Windscreen Pro-Installer Tips
How to Install Fence Windscreen
The “Pro-Installer” method for a wrinkle-free fit.
Quick Answer
To install fence windscreen without wrinkles, use the “10-Foot Section” method. Hang the top edge for 10 feet, pull it taut horizontally, and then secure the bottom edge of that same section before moving forward. Always use UV-treated zip ties at every grommet.
Tools & Materials
Permascreen 80 for wind, Polypro 95 for privacy.
50lb ties for standard use; 120lb for high-wind areas.
Side cutters (snips) and a stable step ladder.
Step-by-Step Installation
Prepare Your Fence
Walk the fence line. Remove old ties, vines, or debris. Ensure posts are sturdy enough for the increased wind load.
Start at the Top Corner
Stand the roll up at the starting post. Secure the top corner grommet first.
⚠️ Warning: Do not tighten ties 100% yet; leave slack for adjustment.
The “10-Foot Section” Method
This is the secret to a professional fit. Work in small sections:
- Attach the top grommets for roughly 10 feet.
- Pull the screen taut horizontally to remove wrinkles.
- Return to the start and attach the bottom grommets for that same 10 feet.
Tighten and Trim
Walk back down the line. Tighten every zip tie firmly with your side cutters, then snip the excess plastic tail off for a clean finish.
